Jim Springfield, Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Springfield most recently served as President and CEO of JGS Advisory Services, LLC, a consulting firm which focuses on strategic governance, financial and operational management, revenue cycle, capital advisory services and executive management and restructuring services for healthcare investors, providers and related organizations. Mr. Springfield previously served as the Senior Vice President, Provider Market Growth and Business Development for Optum, the $84BB healthcare provider subsidiary of the United Health Group. Mr. Springfield also served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Valley Baptist Health System in Harlingen, Texas from January 2003 until November 2008 and as the Chief Operating Officer from May 2001 until December 2003. Valley Baptist is the largest integrated health system in South Texas.

Mr. Springfield received a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Baylor University. He earned a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.


Kenneth Efird, President

Mr. Efird most recently served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Business Development Officer of the Company. He joined the Company in 2010, and during his tenure oversaw clinical operations, revenue cycle management, sales, business development and the rollout of a new marketing strategy, which includes the integration of Athas technologies and the expansion of Nobilis' portfolio of brands. He has been instrumental in the improvement of operational execution across all Nobilis facilities. Efird has also played a significant role in the integration of acquisitions and will continue to do so as President. Prior to joining Nobilis, Efird served as Chief Executive Officer and founder of Diagnostic and Interventional Spine Centers of Texas, a multidisciplinary practice that created a network of allopathic spine teams.


Ken Klein, Interim Chief Financial Officer

Prior to joining Nobilis, Mr. Klein served for over five years as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of the Menninger Clinic, one of the nation's leading inpatient psychiatric hospitals. Mr. Klein has over 26 years of experience in financial accounting & reporting, analysis, management, auditing, treasury and human resources, focusing primarily in the health care, construction and financial services industries. Mr. Klein began his career in 1988 with KPMG Peat Marwick in the audit practice. After KPMG, Mr. Klein has held various financial leadership positions with Texas Children's Hospital, Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Castle Dental Centers, in addition to previously serving as the Company's Chief Financial Officer from 2007 to 2010. Mr. Klein graduated with a B.S. in accounting from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield Connecticut, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated with an MBA and Post Baccalaureate in Accounting from TWU in Houston Texas. A licensed CPA, Mr. Klein is also an adjunct professor of accounting for University of Houston - Downtown and for Lone Star College.


Marissa Arreola, Chief Strategy
Officer & President,

Ms. Arreola joined Nobilis and Concertis in 2016 to develop and direct the company’s strategic plan of being a leader in bundled payment, population health management, and care coordination. She is a cofounder of Nobilis Health’s women initiative, Motivating and Providing Women Resources (“MPWR"), and she currently serves as Chairperson of this division.

Arreola has over 18 years’ experience in healthcare operations and health law regulatory and transactional work. Prior to joining Concertis, she was a Partner at Baker Donelson, in the firm’s health law section. She also served as Director of Legal Services at Houston Methodist Hospital System, an academic medical center headquartered in Houston’s Texas Medical Center. Arreola has represented hospitals and physicians in a wide variety of transactions and regulatory matters. She also has extensive experience with hospital governance, managed care contracting, and development and administration of hospital service lines. She holds a national leadership position with the American Health Lawyers’ Association and is a frequent speaker at regional and national health care conferences.

Marissa earned her B.A., cum laude, from Rice University and her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center. She is currently listed in Best Lawyers in America in Health Care Law.

Mr. Yoder joined Nobilis Health in April 2014 to lead the Sales and Business Development Teams. He has 15 years of healthcare sales and business development experience. Prior to joining Nobilis Health, he held successful sales leadership positions with major healthcare companies, such as Intuitive Surgical, Medtronic, and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. Throughout his career, Yoder has excelled at selling disruptive healthcare concepts to physicians and healthcare facilities. As Executive Vice President of Sales, Yoder leads all Nobilis Health’s physician recruitment and retention strategies.

Yoder earned his B.A. from Rhodes College.


Phil Ayres, Chief Marketing Officer

Mr. Ayres joined Nobilis Health in June of 2017 as the Company’s Vice President of Marketing, before being promoted to Chief Marketing Officer in May of 2018. Prior to joining Nobilis Health, Ayres was the Director of Marketing for Travelocity, where he completely reformed the company’s search engine optimization (SEO) as well as redesigning the company’s display, retargeting, and social direct response efforts.

Prior to his tenure at Travelocity, Ayres served as the Director of Online Marketing for Hotels.com, where he oversaw digital marketing operations in North America and led his team to numerous awards and nominations, including Advertiser of the Year, Innovator of the Year and Hotels.com's Gold Star Award, which the company reserves for the top 1% of its performers.

Ayres is also an attorney, licensed to practice in Tennessee. Prior to his time in the legal field, Ayres was a Navy Officer - serving as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer on the USS MCINERNEY (FFG-8) and the Training Officer on the USS SAMUEL B. ROBERTS (FFG-58). Ayres earned a B.S., cum laude, from Vanderbilt University, where he was the Student Body President, and a J.D. from the University Of Tennessee College Of Law.


Marc Celia, Executive Vice
President of Operations

Mr. Celia joined Nobilis as the Executive Vice President of Operations in the Spring of 2017. In his role, Celia is responsible for managing the operations of all Nobilis hospitals, surgical centers, and clinics.

With nearly 20 years of operational and managerial experience in the healthcare services industry, Celia brings exceptional knowledge, business sense and expertise to the Nobilis Health team.

Prior to joining Nobilis, Celia served as the Vice President of Continuous Improvement for United Surgical Partners International/ Tenet Healthcare (“USPI”), where he was responsible for leading operational cost transformations by identifying and implementing best practices across hundreds of surgical centers and hospitals throughout the country.

Prior to his role at USPI, Celia spent five years as the CEO of Memorial Hermann Surgical Hospital Kingwood, in Houston, Texas. The hospital received a multitude of recognitions and accreditations over the course of Celia’s tenure there as CEO, including maintaining consistent patient satisfaction scores in the 95th percentile, nationally, while simultaneously boasting physician satisfaction levels of 100%.

Celia holds a Master of Science (MS) in healthcare management-emergency services, from the University of Maryland.


Badlani, MD
, Chief Medical

Neil Badlani, M.D., M.B.A. is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. He has been the Chief Medical Officer for Nobilis Health and North American Spine since March 2016 and served before that as the Vice President of Medical Affairs for 1 year. Based in Houston, clinically he practices cutting-edge techniques in treating spine, back and neck pain, as well as complicated spinal disorders in patients of all ages. His surgical emphasis is on minimally invasive techniques including laser and robotic surgery. He has been featured on KHOU 11, Fox 26, KPRC Local 2 and in the Houston Chronicle.

Dr. Badlani is also an award winning researcher having been recognized nationally by the American Academy of Sports Medicine and Western Orthopaedic Association and internationally by the Combined Orthopaedic Research Societies of the USA, Canada, Japan and Europe for his work. He has presented his research both on orthopaedic surgery and economic aspects of medicine at national meetings including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the North American Spine Society. In recent years, he has given several national presentations on the Economics of Outpatient Surgery using Nobilis best practice techniques. He has written several papers and given presentations about orthopaedic hospitals, surgery centers and medical reimbursement issues. He has written numerous book chapters about minimally invasive spine surgery. He is a reviewer for “The Spine Journal" and "The International Journal of Spine Surgery".

Dr. Badlani earned a B.A. in economics from the George Washington University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in only 3 years. He completed a dual MD/MBA program in just 5 years at the University of Pittsburgh. His orthopaedic surgery training was done at the University of California, San Diego, followed by fellowships in both adult and pediatric spine surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL
